After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

  1. Identify the purpose of BERST Academy and key principles of education and learning
  2. Identify personal motivation for joining BERST Academy
  3. Create relationships with Teach-off Team Members
  4. Create shared values to establish a safe learning climate for Base Camp
  5. Identify and discuss  our current views on teaching
  6. Discuss and apply strategies to welcome diverse perspectives and voices.
  7. Use the DSR Guide to process experience of the day
  8. Describe the element of educational planning assigned to you
  9. Analyze how the author of the newsletter article re-frames her experience of a teaching failure
  10. Use the DSR Guide to process a time you "failed" in your teaching​
  11. Discuss how reflection can reframe failure
  12. Discuss how to teach difficult topics
  13. Identify and define the basic elements of educational planning: Needs Assessment, Learning Objectives, Teaching Strategies, Evaluation
  14. Explain how each basic element of educational planning works together with the other elements
  15. Use the DSR Guide to process key takeaways from the morning
  16. Apply the principles of learning climate and educational planning
  17. Apply the principles of motivation, feedback, and reflection
  18. Provide feedback on the experience of Base Camp using the POP Tool
