Despite high quality evidence and strong recommendations in clinical guidelines, use of noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in patients with COPD and their outcomes vary widely across hospitals. In this seminar we will present the available evidence on how to develop and maintain a successful NIV program in acute-care settings that result in improved outcomes of patients with COPD and takes in account the multidisciplinary nature of NIV application.
