Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1|Describe nursing assessment of the post-op esophagectomy patient

3|Describe important nursing interventions/observations when caring for a post-op Whipple patient
4|Discuss nutritional goals and strategies when caring for the post-op Whipple surgery patient

6|Identify pain management strategies for the post-op Whipple surgery patient
7|Describe important focus points of nursing assessment of the post-op general surgery patient
8|Describe some of the tubes and drains used in surgical patients and important nursing implications of caring for them
9|Discuss the management of continuous bladder irrigation and the proper technique to hand irrigate triple lumen catheters
10|Identify which Foley catheter to use in which clinical scenario and why
