Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1. Describe the changing pattern of medication use as death approaches and its impact on family caregivers and patients

2. Review approaches to determining medication appropriateness for older adults with limited life expectancy

3. Identify a strategy for patient-centered prescribing in late life that regularly reviews, simplifies, and aligns treatment regimens with patients' goals of care as their life-limiting illness progresses
