Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Discuss the epidemiology of sexually transmitted infections in adolescents
2. Discuss the differential diagnosis of vaginitis
3. Describe the screening guidelines for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in adolescents
4. Discuss the available diagnostic tests for STIs
5. Discuss how to collect samples for STI tests currently available in the Baystate lab
6. Describe how to test for common causes of vaginitis/vaginosis in adolescent females (e.g. yeast and bacterial vaginosis)
7. Discuss the new diagnostic tests available for diagnosing vaginitis/vaginosis
8. Discuss the Massachusetts PATCH Act
