Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) Guidelines – An Update on the Diagnosis and Management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

This training module will review the latest version of the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) guidelines specifically addressing the diagnosis and management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Dr. Mary Jo Farmer will review the diagnosis and management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease according to the latest GOLD guidelines.  The definition of COPD, ABCD grading system algorithm, and treatment strategies, including inhalers, steroids, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and non-invasive ventilation will be discussed.

Target Audience

This training is for physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists.

Learning Objectives

1. To increase knowledge about the GOLD guidelines.

2. To increase understanding about determining severity of COPD.

3. To increase understanding about current treatments for COPD.
