The Clinical Reasoning Teaching Academy is for educators interested in diagnosis, clinical reasoning, decision-making, human cognition, and/or quality/safety are invited to participate. This is open to physicians of all specialties, PAs, NPs, midwives, nurses, pharmacists, and any other clinicians who want develop skills in teaching their learners “how to think.” The year-long curriculum will cover topics including: principles of human cognition and decision-making, “fast and slow” thinking, heuristics and biases, dealing with clinical uncertainty, causes of diagnostic errors, building effective diagnostic teams, patient engagement in diagnosis and clinical decisions, principles of effective teaching and learning, assessment of clinical reasoning skills, systems approaches to identifying and preventing errors in decision making, and principles of expertise development. The curriculum will be grounded in the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine's 12 Diagnostic Competencies.
