Erica Harp, RN, MSN, CPLC
Erica Harp (Trombly) is the Pediatric Palliative Care Nurse at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield Massachusetts. Erica completed the Nurse Residency Program on July 22, 2015. Erica has since progressed on the clinical ladder and is now an Advanced Professional (level III) RN. Erica is certified in CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers and in Neonatal Resuscitation and is S.T.A.B.L.E certified. Erica is certified in perinatal loss care (CPLC) through The Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center after passing the certification exam in March 2021.
Erica obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in May of 2014 from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. She was awarded the School of Nursing Pin Award for Outstanding Contribution to the School upon graduation and graduated in the top ten percent of the nursing class. Erica went on to obtain her Masters of Science in Nursing in Hospice and Palliative Care in May of 2024 from Central Connecticut State University.
Erica took the position of Pediatric Palliative Care Nurse in January 2021 while continuing to work as a bedside RN in the NICU. In March 2024, she took the part time role of Pediatric Palliative Care Nurse exclusively. Erica completed a bereavement research project in the NICU titled “Navigating the Art of Bereavement Care: Creating a Plan of Action to Facilitate Efficient End-of-Life Nursing Care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical Center”. She completed the NILMDTS Medical Affiliates Course, the Resolve Through Sharing Bereavement Training for Perinatal Death course, as well as the Resolve Through Sharing Coordinator Training in 2020. Erica has completed ELNEC training and the Train the Trainer course in 2021. In 2022, Erica completed the Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care PCEP program.
Erica provides support to staff and families in the NICU, PICU, Children’s and Adolescent’s Unit (Pediatric Inpatient Unit), LDRP Unit (Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum) and Perinatal Outpatient area. She continues to work on expansion of pediatric palliative care throughout the children’s hospital and hopes to continue to support many staff members and families in the future.
