Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
- Review the epidemiology of pediatric pain, opioid prescribing, opioid use disorder, and overdose among children and adolescents
- Implement new American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for evidence-based management of acute pain in pediatric settings
- Discuss effective non-opioid pain medications, how to identify when opioid therapy is indicated and how to prescribe opioids safely and effectively
