Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1|Describe autonomic and cardiac features unique to Trisomy 21.
2|Discuss why sevoflurane remains choice of induction agent in pediatric population.
3|Review characteristics of bradycardia on induction with sevoflurane in children in Down Syndrome.
4|Discuss proposed mechanisms for this complication.
5|Examine evidence linking sevoflurane to bradycardia in Down Syndrome.
6|Review management and prevention.
