Objectives

1| Explore the meaning and significance of nurses’ perceived workload in an acute care cardiac inpatient setting
2| Review current literature highlighting the complexity and multidimensional nature of nursing workload
3| Identify the psycho-social, emotional, organizational, and physical challenges nurses face during their shifts
4| Discuss nurses’ aspirations and challenges in finding meaning and fulfillment in their professional roles
