Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Describe the roles of the members of the health care team in their respective responsibilities for quality care.
2. Discuss pharmakinetics of rapid opioid metabolizers.
3. Discuss the mechanism of action of tramadol.
4.  Discuss the mechanism of action of methadone. Discuss the GI effects of methadone as it relates to other opioids.
5. Discuss how psychological disorders could potentially alter the perception of pain.
6. Discuss the use of antidepressants in those with Bipolar disease.
