Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
- Describe the epidemiology and mechanisms of thoracic trauma, including blunt, penetrating, and blast injuries.
- Review thoracic surgical anatomy relevant to trauma evaluation and operative management.
- Apply ATLS principles to the initial assessment and resuscitation of patients with thoracic injuries.
- Discuss evidence-based management strategies for chest wall, pleural, pulmonary, cardiac, great vessel, diaphragmatic, tracheobronchial, and esophageal injuries.
- Demonstrate knowledge of key operative techniques.
