Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1|Describe the classification and hemodynamic features of cardiogenic shock.
2|Discuss principles guiding escalation of temporary mechanical circulatory support.
3|Review indications, physiology, and limitations of commonly used MCS devices:  intra-aortic balloon pump, VA ECMO, Impella CP and Impella 5.5.
