Morbidity & Mortality - Spinal Cord Ischemia and Lumbar Drain Management in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms Repair

Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1|Review the differential diagnosis of post-operative fever.
2|Review diagnostic criteria for ARDS and review ARDSnet strategy for mechanical ventilation.
3|Understand the physiological differences between obstructive and restrictive lung disease.
4|Review the "three legged stool" approach to assessing risk for post-operative complications in thoracic surgery patients.
5|Identify challenges associated with anesthetizing patients with significant pulmonary disease.
6|Discuss different methods for performing spontaneously ventilating VATS and how they compare to traditional mechanical ventilation methods.
7|Review candidacy for lung transplantation and which disease processes are typically eligible for transplantation.
