This two hour course will provide education regarding care of the transgender patient within the healthcare system. It will provide an overview of terminology, therapies and unique health care needs of the transgender patient. It will highlight important clinical and social information for the MA role in ambulatory practice caring for this population.

 

Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1|Identify terminology related to transgender and gender diverse populations
2|Describe gender affirming therapies for transgender adolescents
3|Identify health care disparities/special health care needs affecting transgender individuals
4|Describe the role of the RN and MA in the care of transgender individuals
