The Department of Pathology supports the continuing education of our faculty, residents, nurses, students, staff and guests with the presentation provided at the Anatomic Pathology Performance Improvement Team (APPIT) meetings.
The APPIT meetings focus on the analysis of selected anatomic pathology quality monitors for Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology and Autopsy Pathology. Topics focus on identifying and preventing diagnostic errors, process imporovement, and quality of care, professional performance and regulatory compliance to maximize patient safety, quality, value and the patient experience.
The APPIT meeting presentations and discussions are an essential component of medical, nursing, and general education, and teach new information, enhance clinical reasoning skills and provide safe, effective, patient-centered, timely and cost-effective care.

In support of improving patient care, Baystate Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
