Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Demonstrates the ability document and set up the PCA pump.
2. Demonstrates the ability to properly identify type of port, how to access/ de-access, and accurately document port access/de-access.
3. Demonstrates the ability to identify the need and type of restraint, documenting restraints, applying restraints, and assessing restraints.
4. Verbalize the appropriate use of the Oxymask, Aeroneb, and ventilators.
5. Demonstrates the ability to document the preop checklist in CIS, and performing the CHG wipes on patients prior to surgery.
6. Demonstrates proper hand washing.
7. Demonstrates an understanding of the stroke pathway for both an acute emergency department and inpatient stroke activation. Demonstrates the ability to mix tPA.
8. Demonstrates the ability to identify a pediatric patient in need of emergent care, the ability to locate items needed for a pediatric resuscitation, and the management of a pediatric code.
9. Demonstrates the knowledge of identifying a patient who needs external pacing, and the ability to externally pace a patient.
10. Demonstrates the ability to set up the level one infuser, and infuse a patient with fluids from the level one infuser.
11. Demonstrates the ability to set up and use a pediatric syringe pump.
12. Demonstrates knowledge of the policy and protocol of SANE cases, and the ability to use a SANE kit if needed.
