Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Review and criticize the recent data about preemptive TIPS (p-TIPS) placement for acute variceal bleeding in the setting of portal venous hypertension.

2. Review and criticize the recent data about early placement of TIPS for recurrent ascites in the setting of portal venous hypertension.
