Objectives

1. Define acute kidney injury(AKI) and the relevance of currently accepted definitions and stages

2. Discuss an efficient and cost-effective approach to evaluating AKI

3. Discuss when to ask a consultant for assistance and when to anticipate the need for renal replacement therapy
