Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Discuss current guidelines for communication of prognosis with surrogate decision makers for severely ill patients
2. Discover the evidence base for interventions that improve communication for critically ill patients
3. Discuss recent clinical trials of communicating prognosis and new insights from those studies
