Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

  1. Utilize the “ABCDE” method in the initial evaluation of burn patients
  2. Review basic anatomy and pathophysiology of burns
  3. Describe burn injuries in terms of size, depth, coloration and characteristics
  4. Review calculation of burn injury size and fluid requirements
  5. Describe the treatment course for the management of burn injuries
