Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

  1. Distinguish the differences between new patient, established patient and consultation
  2. Understand that Office/Outpatient visits may be based on either medical decision making or time
  3. Recognize which activities count toward total daily time when basing your E/M level on time
  4. Analyze the three components of medical decision making and assign the appropriate level of complexity
  5. Choose the correct level of service for new and established patients based on documentation
