Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1.Review the basics of ECMO and describe nursing interventions that can be applied to the ECMO patient population.
2.Review the requirements for education, training and competency compliance for the critical care nurse to become an ECMO Specialist.
3.Discuss the impact of moving to a nurse driven model on ECMO program development and outcomes.
