Objectives

1. Review the pathophysiology and presentation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), including flares and complications
2. Discuss the usual and guideline-directed treatment approach for SLE
3. Review the data and describe the role of belimumab (Benlysta®) in SLE treatment
