Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

  1. Discuss the moral distress healthcare providers experience when filing a 51A and witnessing removals of patients from their families.
  2. Describe strategies to maintain a therapeutic relationship with families when the medical team has filed a 51A.
  3. Describe the process by which DCF makes the determination to remove (or not remove) a child from their caregivers.
