Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1| Perform the setting up, programming, and documentation of a PCA and Epidural infusion.

2| Name the intended utilization and rationale for the various respiratory methods and resources.

3| Administer peritoneal dialysis to a simulated peritoneal cavity.

4| Verbalize and demonstrate the access, de-access, and maintenance of a portacath site. 

5| Interpret the reference for the maintenance and care of a central line.

6| Describe the nursing responsibility of caring for a patient with a chest tube.

7| Demonstrate attaching the Aspira drainage system

8| Explain the proper procedure for a medication history task.

9| Perform the application, removal, and documentation of restraints.

10| Validate the competency of the Liko lifts for repositioning sheet, high back sling, and multistraps.

11| Validate the competency of the PATRAN Slide Sheet utilizing the fold technique to slide it under the patient without rolling them, boosting the patient, and transferring them to a stretcher.

12| Review infection control policies in relation to contact precautions, droplet, airborne, and Covid precautions.

13| Perform a mock code situation to validate emergency care management.

14| Review the care of a septic patient and proper procedures to follow.

15| Review the falls risk policy and how to properly identify a falls risk patient

16| Verbalize the stroke protocol and the flood nurses’ responsibility during a Stroke Alert.
