Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
Review normal embryologic development of external genitalia
Recognize the three most common causes of DSD
Identify physical exam findings which should prompt DSD workup
Explain the initial work up of a newborn with DSD
Review embryologic genital development
Discuss the diagnosis of hypospadias and suggestive sonographic markers
Determine the different anomalies associated with hypospadias and the vast differential diagnosis
Understand the prenatal genetic test that can be offered when fetal hypospadias is identified
Highlight maternal risk factors, specifically focusing on hypertension, in relation to the development of hypospadias
