Description

In this session, we'll be hearing from a bariatric surgeon and a lead dietician on the bariatric surgical team here at Baystate Medical Center. We'll be discussing many issues pertaining to the management of obesity and challenges of bariatric surgery.  Please see the below objectives for the specific topics we'll be discussing. 

 

Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1| To explore the challenges that patients with the disease of obesity face in terms of societal bias, medical system bias and how these impact the care of these patients.

2| To discuss the major psychological, physical and commitment challenges facing patients who enroll in bariatric surgical programs aiming towards surgical interventions.

3| To discuss the very major life-changing outcomes possible after successful bariatric surgery and successful weight loss.
