After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1|Nurse will state the difference between continuous hemofiltration and continuous hemodialysis.
2|Nurse will differentiate between diffusion and convection and be able to state which molecules are cleared with each.
3|Nurse will verbalize what each of the settings on the PrisMax operational screen controls (PBP, BFR, PFR, Dialysate, and Replacement Fluid).
4|Nurse will return to demonstrate the initial set up of the PrisMax circuit in CVVHDF mode, including set up of the auto effluent accessory.
5|Nurse will return and demonstrate the steps to return the patient’s blood and place the system to recirculate saline.
6|Nurse will navigate the operational screen and demonstrate appropriate adjustment of the deaeration chamber.
7|Nurse will compare patient pressure graphs over time to identify trends indicative of clotting or clogging.
8|Nurse will assess pressure values and distinguish between clogging and clotting.
9|Nurse will identify alarms and follow the on-screen steps to resolve them.
10|Nurse will state the effect that citrate has on blood calcium, as well as the indication for RCA use with CRRT.
