Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
- Summarize and discuss NICU case and relate to overall ARPKD.
- Define ARPKD.
- Identify and describe postnatal clinical characteristics of ARPKD.
- Understand the progression of disease in the systems involved.
- Discuss surveillance methods and potential outcomes.
- Define Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD) by defining its genetic basis of ARPKD and its inheritance pattern.
- Recognize ultrasound findings and prenatal diagnosis.
- Review the significance of genetic testing.
- Address long-term prognosis and explain the importance of multidisciplinary team counseling (including genetics, MFM, NICU and pediatric palliative care, social workers).
