Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1|Review the basics of HSV1 and HSV2, including incidence, transmission and presentation​.
2|Understand primary vs non-primary HSV outbreaks​.
3|Discuss the maternal and fetal risks of HSV in pregnancy​.
4|Review the case of patient DD, including presentation, management and outcomes.
5|Discuss the different modes of transmission of neonatal HSV and how this affects clinical presentation.
6|Discuss diagnostic testing and laboratory evaluation of suspected cases.
7|Review asymptomatic vs symptomatic treatment algorithms and long-term outcomes.
