Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

 

  1. Define fetal pericardial effusion and describe its causes and risk factors. 
  2. Discuss the potential complications associated with fetal pericardial effusion, including fetal hydrops and cardiac tamponade. 
  3. Evaluate the management options for fetal pericardial effusion, including fetal interventions and postnatal follow-up care. 
  4. Discuss the long-term outcomes of fetal pericardial effusion and the potential impact on the child's health and development.
  5. Describe the development of the fetal heart and pericardium.
  6. Classify and Etiology of pericardial effusion in the neonate.
  7. Discuss the association between pericardial effusion and CVC.
  8. Discuss the management and follow-ups in a neonate with pericardial effusion.
  9. List complications of pericardial effusion.
  10. Discuss emergency management of cardiac tamponade-pericardiocentesis.
