Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

  1| Demonstrate the leads and pad placements for: defibrillating, cardioversion, and pacing.

  2| Perform and demonstrate how to prepare the syringe and tubing for the Alaris Syringe Pump.

  3| Demonstrate the proper application of the Twice as Tough wrist and ankle restraints.

  4| Demonstrate the setup of the Fluid warmer and the proper tubing that is used.

  5| Demonstrate proper hand hygiene with soap and water, and alcohol-based hand rub.

  6| Discuss and describe the signs a stroke patient may exhibit.

  7| Demonstrate the use of the Broselow tape in a pediatric resuscitation, and medication dosing.

  8| Discuss how to use the sepsis bundle worksheet.

  9| Discuss and demonstrate how to load the tubing in the Belmont Rapid Infuser.

10|Demonstrate the use of the high back sling for the overhead left device.

11|Discuss the ways that fall risk patients are identified in the department.

12|Demonstrate the setup of the Posey alarm for high risk fall patients.

13|Discuss the set up for a chest tube insertion and set up of Oasis chest tube drainage system.

14|Demonstrate the proper procedure for accessing a Porta cath, and dressing.

15|Demonstrate the proper procedure for de-accessing a Porta cath.

16|Demonstrate the proper use and application of the LUCAS device.

17|Identify cardiac rhythms.

18|Discuss Heparin orders and protocols for Heparin titrating .
