Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1|Use techniques to adapt their communication approach when faced with a child who is unwilling or particularly hesitant to speak during forensic interviews.

2|Incorporate both neutral and trauma-informed strategies to build rapport and encourage engagement.

3| Analyze and apply trauma-informed practices in forensic interviewing, tailoring their approach to meet the unique needs of each child while considering the impact of trauma on behavior and communication.

4| Conceptualize the forensic interview process as an ongoing team problem-solving activity for the full multidisciplinary team, including skills to foster an environment where the cohesive needs of the team can be met in a single interview.
