Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1. Identify sonographic findings consistent with fetal small bowel obstruction.

2. Discuss the most common etiologies, risks, and complications associated with small bowel obstruction.  

3. Review the recommendations for antenatal surveillance and delivery planning for fetuses with small bowel obstruction.

4. Provide a brief overview of small bowel atresia.

5. Discuss care of an infant with prenatal evidence of small bowel obstruction.

6. Identify causes of small bowel obstruction in neonates.
