Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Demonstrate appropriate assessment and management of the surgical patient prior to anesthesia/procedure on the day of surgery through the perioperative continuum of care.
2. Effectively communicate with the patient care team during the perioperative course. 
3. Document the required patient assessments necessary for the specific phase of anesthesia care. 
4. Recognize the purpose and effects of different anesthesia agents administered to the perianesthesia patient. 
5. Define multimodal pain management therapies used in the perianesthesia setting.
6. Provide pertinent pre/post-anesthesia education to the patient and the responsible individual or caregiver to promote optimal patient outcomes.
