Series Overview

Excellence in trauma nursing contributes to optimal patient outcomes and the prevention of complications. The purpose of this course is to provide RNs with evidenced-based core knowledge, assessments, and psychomotor skills in managing injured trauma patients. The education reinforces a systematic and standardized approach integrated into its system to trauma teamwork, communication, and collaboration. The course will encourage and empower the nurse to apply knowledge, critical thinking skills, and hands-on training to provide expert care for trauma.

Intended Audience

Acute care nurses who participate in the care of the trauma patient in the in-patient care setting.

Global Objectives 
As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate wound care assessments.
  2. Describe components of spinal injury assessments interventions.
  3. Perform neuro assessment, neurogenic bladder interventions, and swallow evaluations.
  4. Identify pain management interventions for rib fractures.
