This two hour course will provide education regarding Beckers Muscular Dystrophy and Duchene’s Muscular Dystrophy, commonly seen at our MDA clinic.  It will provide an overview of the conditions and how they impact the neurologic, pulmonary and cardiac systems. It will highlight important clinical information for the MA role in ambulatory practice caring for pediatric patients with these diagnoses.

Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1|Identify the most common types of neuromuscular disorders seen in our clinic.
2|Recognize and describe the common cardiac conditions associated with neuromuscular disorders.
3|Recognize the describe respiratory involvement with neuromuscular disorders.
4|Describe the assessment and treatment of neuromuscular patients with pulmonary and cardiac involvement. 
5|Descire the multidisciplinary approach in MDA clinic.
