To facilitate a conversation with members of the multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for the compassionate and respectful process of taking care of decedents including transporting them from the unit to the morgue, to facilitate viewings for families, and discharging to funeral homes or the ME office. To describe, and reflect on the meaning, and the importance of providing this service to families while taking into consideration legal and regulatory implications.
Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1| To describe the process of caring for decedents in the morgue. |
2| To discuss the various barriers and opportunities to providing a viewing of a decedent to families. |
3| To discuss the psycho-social, and spiritual dimension of compassionate caring from admission to the morgue to discharging. |
