Description: The care of patients with complex medical, and psycho-social conditions hospitalized on inpatient units for long periods of time has impacted the workload of our teams, along with allocation of resources. The SR panelists will discuss their experiences with a specific patient and invite all of us to explore ways to care for ourselves while attending to long-term patients and their many needs. 



Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1|Describe best practices for caring for long-term patients ( e.g. communication, continuity of care,  manager, involvement ).
2|Describe the impact of long term patients in caregivers, personally and professionally.
3|Define compassion fatigue, articulate two indicators of CF, and one strategy to overcome CF.
