Series Overview

CATS MDT Advanced Trainings are two hour, virtual trainings provided for Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) and their community partners.  These trainings offer a deeper dive into specific aspects of trauma-informed care, with consideration to the nuances of providing a trauma-informed response within the parameters of a CAC and/or MDT forensic process.  Each training is offered by an MDT partner with experience working in a CAC setting. 2026 training topics include:  Avoiding Common Errors in the Forensic Interview, Sexual Health In CACs, Trauma-Informed Policing in Child Abuse Cases, and Collaboration between CACs and their local Faith Communities.

Intended Audience

This educational activity is designed for Child welfare workers, Advocates/Case Workers, Law Enforcement, Forensic Interviewers, District Attorneys, Medical Personnel, Mental Health Providers.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Baystate Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.  Organization, not individual courses are approved under this program.
Baystate Health maintains responsibility for this course.  Social workers completing this course receive 2.0 continuing education credit(s).

   Mental Health Counselors
Baystate Health is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider, (ACEPTM) and may offer NBCC approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.  The  ACEP is solely responsible for all aspects of the program. (ACEP #5684).  Mental Health Counselors completing this course receive 2.0 clock hours.

Global Objectives: 
As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to train across disciplines will build communication and empathy, as they learn nuances of one another's roles and objectives within the larger MDT.  The CATS MDT Advanced Training series will approach advanced skills in trauma-informed care from the perspective of different disciplines represented on the MDT in order to build skills while improving team dynamics.
