Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Create a BC/WC graphic aid including the best, worst and most likely outcomes for clinical scenarios where there is an option for either surgery or a less invasive procedure, medical management, or to shift focus to supportive care. Leaners will learn to include a phrase to elicit patient preferences on the graphic aid.
2. Describe through stories a range of treatment outcomes using the BC/WC tool to facilitate a shared decision-making conversation about treatment options with a simulated patient.
3. Practice breaking bad news to a simulated patient.
4. Practice making a treatment recommendation for a simulated patient.
