Description

A patient-centered care discussion highlighting the purpose and process of learning to overcome challenges when there is a dynamic breakdown in communication between health care professionals and parents/guardians of children with complex medical conditions.

Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

1| To expand the understanding of compassionate care through fostering communication when there Is a dynamic breakdown in communication between health care professionals and parents/guardians of pediatric patients.
2| To foster a culture of verbal and non-verbal communication among health care professionals and parents/guardians of children with complex medical conditions
3| To discuss barriers and identify solutions by improving and encouraging family involvement with differing expectations about appropriate treatments for pediatric patients.
4| To strengthen the understanding of the impact of compassionate care in recognizing the style and communication of patients' and parents' views, attitudes and prospective may differ from the physicians' insight and professional perception.
