Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Define palliative care, hospice, withdrawal of mechanical support, non-escalation of care
2. Describe the non-escalation of care and role of PCP in family support of patient with terminal illness
3. Discuss cultural competency when considering withdrawal of mechanical support
4. Discuss strategies for breaking bad news, resources available for patients and physicians
