Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Recognize and differentiate between systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and the different severities of sepsis
2. Describe the initial management and resuscitation recommended in pediatric sepsis syndromes
3. Define the criteria needed to diagnose failure-to-thrive in a pediatric patient
4. Review the appropriate workup and management of failure-to-thrive in a pediatric patient.
