Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:
1. Define clinical characteristics of sickle cell disease and acute chest syndrome

2. Apply appropriate monitroing parameters to patient with sickle cell disease

3. Facilitate the clinical decision making process about if/when to start blood transfusions or IV antibiotics

4. Design an initial PCA regimen and adjust to optimize patient's pain  control
