Objectives

1. Describe the weakness of dialysis adequacy as it is currently defined and applied
2. Explain the limitations of diffusive therapies when it comes to removal of certain uremic toxins
3. Discuss the potential benefits of convective therapies for removal of uremic toxins and review the most recent studies

4. Describe the newer entity of "medium cut-off" dialyzers and how increases in membrane permeability may be an alternative way to improve middle molecule clearance without the use of convective therapies

5. Describe the roles of the members of the health care team in their respective responsibilities for quality care
