Series Overview
The Transplant Patient Selection Committee is a multidisciplinary, case-based educational conference focused on evidence-based evaluation and management of kidney transplant candidates. The activity includes review of complex patient cases, application of OPTN/UNOS policies and national guidelines, discussion of ethical considerations in organ allocation, and analysis of outcomes data to support continuous quality improvement in transplant care.
Intended Audience
Physicians (Transplant Nephrology, Transplant Surgery, Infectious Disease, Psychiatry), Registered Nurses (Transplant Coordinators), Pharmacists, Social Workers, Dietitians, Financial Coordinators, Quality/Compliance Staff, and Transplant Program Leadership.

Global Objectives:
As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to:
- Apply OPTN/UNOS policies and evidence-based national guidelines consistently to the evaluation and selection of kidney transplant candidates. 2. Integrate multidisciplinary clinical, psychosocial, pharmacologic, and ethical perspectives to perform standardized risk stratification for complex transplant candidates. 3. Implement structured documentation and decision-making strategies that support transparency, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement in transplant selection. 4. Utilize program-level outcomes and quality data to inform candidate selection decisions and identify opportunities for practice improvement. 5. Collaborate effectively as a multidisciplinary healthcare team by engaging in structured case-based discussion, shared decision-making, and clear communication to improve consistency of practice and patient and graft outcomes.
