Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, attendees should be able to:

  1. Define the cognitive behavioral elements of treatment for depression .
  2. Provide basic psychoeducation to patients with depression about the cognitive behavioral approach to treatment.
  3. Assess patients for adherence to medical therapy.
  4. Identify barriers to inadequate medical adherence.
  5. Apply evidence-based behavioral techniques to improve adherence to medical therapy.
  6. Engage patients to utilize self-management tools for behavioral activation, stress management, and problem solving.
